(30 posts)32. Actaully for tubes it's not just 2nd order harmonics, but.....
EVEN order harmonics that makes those tube amps sound more pleasing to the ear most especially when driven into clipping....as most guitarist do......lol. 2nd order harmonics just have the highest amplitude compared to 4th, 6th, 8th etc. Solid state amps on the other hand generate very high odd order harmonics...the 3rd order again being the highest. For some reason our hearing responds much more appreciatively to those even order harmonics.....psycho acoutics!
