Is it collusion? All these telecoms nickle and dime their customers -- both private and commercial -- to death. We pay additional fees for incrementally faster service, increased usage, and extra charges for exceeding our pitiful allotment of bandwidth, plus sketchy connections to video streaming websites, and really inventive non-customer service.

Because of corporate greed, and political bribery, there are vast swaths of rural and remote areas that were denied government assistance to provide those people with internet access. The private sector will not upgrade or offer better service without competition. As long as the telecom giants manipulate the market, the public sector should step in to provide the services that they refuse to offer at a competitive cost.
