(52,111 posts)I am willing to point out this reality because I know inequality is alive and thriving in the U.S. The system is so stacked against minorities AND people who believe in diversity that we must recognize that this is not our country. Not in the sense that the laws will be applied to protect our interests. There have been too many examples to the contrary. My website is replete with them.
But we are Americans and WE DO HAVE A RIGHT TO EXPECT OUR COUNTRY TO RESPOND TO OUR PLIGHT, especially when that plight is being exacerbated by other Americans. The question is, how do we get the legal enforcement agencies and legal services to recognize our needs when law enforcement agencies are dominated by status quo thinking, and you need money to move the legal services?
I don't know the answer to those questions. But what I do know is that we have a narrow line, a very narrow line, which we can walk to stay on the moral high ground. It's the only thing that will help us prevail. It's the only way that we can avoid getting pushed back into the crab bucket.
I know that one answer is to expose their hypocrisies which is why I launched the website. But people are very slow to catch on how the problems that we face as minorities are compounded by the fact that you have an entire class of people who feel that the merit system means that you're a good buddy who is willing to support a corrupt status quo.
