I think empathy can be exhausting. Sometimes I get so overwhelmed by the scale of what is needed that I just freeze up. With so many worthy causes, I can't make a decision about which one to give to and I end up just doing nothing and feeling guilty. But I do think it is important to remember that helping even in a limited capacity can make a huge difference if enough people do it.
