8 days, so this isn't intended as elderly bashing--but I do wonder whether there might be a touch of dementia going on with him.

Starting at age 65, the risk of developing dementia doubles every 5 years, and his speech and behavior are so outlandish that I do wonder if he is might have had a minor stroke or fallen into the early stages of dementia.
