You said that First Amendment "rights have been greatly curtailed on campuses across the country." Can you cite some examples? I know that there have been some loud caterwauling from some conservative students that their opinions are not given a fair hearing, but upon closer inspection, it usually turns out that they are unable to support of defend their position in the academic arena, mistaking their own poor preparation for censorship.
