1. Why did they change the password in the first place?

The cops/FBI already had the Smartphone in their possession. So, why would they change the password?

And if they wanted to force the Smartphone to sync up with the Cloud (to gain information that is archived in the cloud but was deleted on the phone), why didn't they read the manual on how to do it properly?
