(8,175 posts)I'm not sure that protesting is going to do any good, because they broadcast what pays, and it's the RW nuts that love that stuff and listen to it all day, so it pays.
Washington and Oregon west side are normal people, but east side are lots of RW nuts. Southern states have lots of RW nuts.
Any area that has a lot of ranching and open dry space that is not easy to convert to a metroplex, is going to have a lot of RW nuts.
As long as they are out there, you will have an audience and therefor, a market for hate radio.
The only way I see of defeating it, is some federal law stating that there has to be equal time for RW hate and LW love.
Oh wait...we tried that didn't we? It was called the Fairness Doctrine. What happened to it?
In 1987, the FCC demolished it saying:
stating that the doctrine hurt the public interest and violated free speech rights guaranteed by the First Amendment.
So, if you want to have a battle, go for it, but it's the FCC you have to fight. Not individual radio stations.
I'd love to see the Fairness doctrine come back. But I don't know if it will ever happen.
