I find it hard to stand up and call out this kind of thing, when it's widely accepted (as it seems to be, judging from the lack of outcry).

I figured I'd be shouted down - accused of "being a fan of Fox news", "whining", "playing the gender card", "playing the victim"... or I'd get the obnoxious "Don't you know women have REAL problems like violence... how dare you whine about a WORD? Oh, you pearl-clutcher! You're no feminist!"

But now, you've made me glad I said something.

Maybe there's hope.
