All the wounded Civil War soldiers who got hooked on opium.

The "patent medicines" that gave babies heroin.

All the subsequent wars and addicts from them.

The thing is nowadays, heroin is far cheaper than the days of "Needle Park," and reporters and news photographers are showing addicts as they overdose.
