I bought that shit about Mexicans stealing our jobs and raping our women. I got so carried away by my submerged bigotry coming to the surface that I overlooked the fact that Trump is a madman. I am ashamed and I apologize, and I will never allow this to happen again."

I expect only a small, very small fraction of Trump voters will admit to this, so I don't think I'll be overly burdened with handing out "welcome back" handshakes. I know many, many Trump voters, and can think of only two who might fit this description, and even they will wallow in phony rationalizing for a while.
