(14,308 posts)At the end of World War II, the Russians forced the German population which hadn't already run for their lives to leave East Prussia forever.
East Prussia of course had been German land forever and there was no dispute about it. In fact East Prussia was the home region that became the German state in 1871.
So the Red Army entered East Prussia with a vengeance in early 1945 and the German civilian population ran for their lives and whoever was left there when the war ended was forced out. Russian families were moved in. The historic names of towns, cities and regions were changed. The capital of East Prussia, Konigsberg (King's Mountain) was renamed Kaliningrad. Check out this ridiculous map. Kaliningrad is part of Russia 100's of miles away from any other Russian land.

Anyway, all the Germans left and now 70 years later there aren't any protests about occupied territory. There aren't any refugee camps on the Baltic Coast. The German civilians had their land stolen, they resettled, mostly in Germany, some in the US, or Canada, and they moved on. The UN doesn't seem to care. No one else seems to either.
Is it because Russia is big and Israel is small?
