I suspect they're naively assuming that with Flynn resigning, that's the end of it. And they couldn't be more wrong. All evening I've been watching the talking heads and former intel officers kicking this around on camera, and they all agree on several things - that this only provokes more questions - and some of them even more inconvenient and uncomfortable.
SEVERAL times tonight already I've heard it uttered in one way or other - trump HAD to know. How there's no way he couldn't have known. Because of who he is, how he operates, how big his ego is, how that ego makes him plunk himself right down in the middle of things and at the top of things (I guess, kinda like the sun with all the planets and asteroid belt and everything else revolves around it).
During the conversation Brian Williams had with Malcolm Nance and Naveed Jamali, a key question to ask Michael Flynn would have to be "why are you falling on your sword? And for whom?"
There's excruciating speculation as these folks try to connect the dots, and are starting to realize what the picture is that those connected dots reveal. There are questions about whether THIS is why Sally Yates got fired, because she went to the White House Counsel to alert that office "that Flynn was talking to the Russians and may be compromised."
There's just a boatload - no - make that a whole armada of boatloads of questions that this provokes and spawns.
They're starting to connect the dots. I'm utterly flabbergasted.
