(42,756 posts)It certainly is illuminating. It's bad enough to be hit by a disease, but to have to also worry about the cost of treatment? That, to me, is unbearable.
I'm sorry you had to go through both your own disease but also the experience of your husband's. I don't know how people get through these phases of their life, but I guess there is no choice.
In your last paragraph, I think you should add an adjective: "It's just criminal that the most financially successful country in the world...." The U.S. is financially successful, but millions of people in this country think life is all about the dollar. Being successful financially. There's so much more to it than that, and to be fair, millions of others realize that, too.
Another example of how we are not successful is how our government has been hijacked for the purposes of big business. I do not consider this a democracy anymore, so there's another failure of the U.S. Drug problems, racism, inequality, and more. We are not even keeping up with nations like China in becoming energy independent.
