Philadelphia in the early 80s, he had to walk almost 20 blocks from work to home in the wee hours. One of those times a car full of guys slowly followed him as he walked, harassing him. He was a very attractive well built guy, but still a teenager. He felt very intimidated, started taking alleys and back and side streets. It does happen.
