Jeralean Talley's age has earned her international attention.

The Inkster woman was born in 1899, named the oldest living person in the world last month and will turn 116 on Saturday.

Birthday greetings have already started coming, including a letter from President Barack Obama sending his "warmest wishes."

"The breadth of your experiences and depth of your wisdom reflect the long path our Nation has traveled since 1899," the president's letter said. "During this time, there have been setbacks and breakthroughs, false starts and improbable victories, and through it all our country's spirit has endured — strengthened and enriched by each generation.". . .

I think this deserves a DU appreciation. My grandmother was born in 1895. I think this lady is lovely, only younger. I think all of us here on DU can love her. ?pubId=355474280
