(60,872 posts)The anger on the left towards the war - at that point - extended to those fighting it (and yes I know the men brutally killed were contractors) - in addition to those who sent them. Consider that the people involved are now very likely in ISIS if they are still alive.
I have posted there - more in the past than now, because it is a powerhouse on the left. I liked that diaries could, but often aren't, be more researched than the typical DU post. One downside is that unless you can get an immediate response of people wanting to comment or recommend, the diary sinks almost instantly.
Kos may think that turning into another arm of the HRC for president operation on March 15 helps, but I really think they are making a major mistake. I note that they did NOT turn to general election mode in 2004 or 2008 even when someone really did mathematically become the almost certain nominee. I could add that there were no calls to do so. It is possible that by March 15, that HRC will not have over half of the pledged delegates - the point when in reality, primaries unofficially end.
In 2008, neither DU or Daily Kos went to GE mode until HRC conceded nearly a month after the last primary! I also would suggest that the Dean centric Daily Kos did not rally around John Kerry even though from the start of voting, he was far more dominant than HRC is this year - and she is pretty dominant. In fact, other than SC, OK (where he got 28 percent to Clark's and Edward's 30 - surely leading to each getting near a third of the delegates), the only states that others won came after they conceded the race in their home states - VT and NC. There was NO call for a DK, which actually supported the more hawkish, more conservative Edwards over Kerry once Dean dropped out, to go to GE mode before he had clearly won the nomination.
