Three police officers were shot dead and several others injured after a man dressed in black carrying an assault rifle opened fire in Baton Route, Louisiana.
The incident happened near the Old Hammond area in Baton Rouge.
"One suspect is dead, law enforcement believes two others may be at large," the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office said.
One man was reported be walking down the side of a road carrying an assault rifle. Witnesses reported him to police, and when the police arrived on the scene the shootout occurred.

BATON ROUGE -- Police have closed streets between Baton Rouge Police Headquarters and I-12 where at least three law enforcement officers have been shot.
According to our partners at WBRZ, shots were fired around 9 a.m. Sunday morning kicking off a manhunt for the shooter or shooters.
There is an active shoter situation in the area of Airline and Old Hammond Highways according to The Advocate.
A police spokesperson was not ready to release specifics as of yet.
