This could very well just be yet other violent episode in a violent place, but from afar (Jersey) it looks like the events could have in some way been inspired by what's been going on of late between law enforcement and the public/protesters.
You are absolutely correct that until the facts are clear we simply won't know, and all we can do is speculate as to what sparked the shootings.
I guess I just hope that whatever the reason ends up being, things don't get worse.
