In reply to the discussion: Thieves in LA are looting freight trains filled with packages from UPS, FedEx and Amazon [View all]the cash bail thing is a mostly shallow argument. I do however believe that real punitive (and hopefully deterrent) measures must be delivered when these things make their way to a conclusion in that same criminal justice system. The idea that mere 'property crime' is somehow not of serious consequence - is a woefully misguided one.
(And if people want better results from their justice system - they might want to think about actually investing in a seriously overworked and overwhelmed system. With few things being more central to a respected and functioning democracy. Right?)
