13. That headline should really be Mike Pence Calls for Women to Have No Rights.

To the religious right, women are nothing more than chattel to be obedient to a man’s every whim. If that’s rape, they need to stay quiet and bear the baby. If it’s incest, well that’s unfortunate but it’s perfectly fine to force a 12-year-old to bear a child her body, both mentally and physically, is ill prepared for, probably ruining her life. If it’s domestic abuse, they need to let the male beat them up and not complain. If he actually murders them, there might be a possibility to hold him criminally liable.

Meanwhile, women who do not want a child at this point in their lives, will have to drop out of high school or college, possibly lose a job, and for those without insurance—many, many poor women—face a delivery bill of $10,000-$15,000 for a standard delivery for a child they do not want. A complicated delivery, such as a C-section, can cost up to $30,000. Which of those Christian groups has volunteered to pay these costs?
