under the "Just Cause" provision written into every union Collective Bargaining Agreement.

They may settle with a short suspension, like two weeks with a sunset of the infraction in a year or two. Or he could fight it all the way to arbitration, which he most likely will win.

But since no arbitration is guaranteed one way or another, taking a two-week suspension and keeping your job, plus the thousands of dollars he will receive from the Go Fund Me contributions looks like a pretty good win from my standpoint.

Remember, the First Amendment does not protect you from your employer. They have no obligation for that. Ford will say his conduct, in the workplace, warrants discipline. But I don't think the employer can prevail in terminating him.
