It reminded me of Jeff Sharlet's article in Harpers called "God Plus One" about the religious fundamentalists in American govt. who were given perks by this religious right wing group who supported adopting "Hitler or Stalin-like" tactics - because they were doing it for good reasons... as if Nazis and Stalinists thought they were evil empires...

that's how religion justifies abuse of the separation of church and state in this nation.
That article was the basis for Sharlet's book, The Family, that looked at the perversion of American political life by religious fundamentalism.
