In reply to the discussion: Ariel Castro: Convicted Cleveland kidnapper/rapist found dead in cell [View all]hamsterjill
(17,668 posts)61. I hope I'm never happy when someone dies...
I know this man was evil, and it's over, at least. Hopefully, those affected by this monster will gain closure knowing that he can never harm them again in any way.
His three victims have shown remarkable strength in their recoveries and I wish them all the best. Michelle Knight, particularly, for coming forward and facing him. Such brave young women!
That said, I believe that Castro was one of the few who KNEW he was a sicko, and perhaps this was his own way of ending any potential threat that he might harm again.

I hope all the people he damaged find some peace, and just live their lives now.

I take solace in the fact that his chosen end means that he will be quickly forgotten by the media

I think it finally sunk into his huge ego that he no longer was in control.

I didn't see anything about a rope, I had assumed he did it with his clothes

Too bad he didn't do it *before* kidnapping, raping and torturing his victims.

So the thought of spending his life as a prisoner was enough to make him kill himself?

although it did cross my mind about the guards I first thought - he wasn't on a suicide watch?
