In reply to the discussion: Ariel Castro: Convicted Cleveland kidnapper/rapist found dead in cell [View all]Jenoch
(7,720 posts)78. There are a number of posts on this thread that seem to be blaming
the prison guards for this POS hanging himself. I have read a couple of the news stories and so far, nothing has come out that would indicate the guards did anything to facilitate this hanging. He used bedsheets to hang himself. The guards were supposed to check on him every 30 minutes. They found him hanging at 9:20p but he was not pronounced dead until 10:52p at the Ohio State University Medical Center.

I hope all the people he damaged find some peace, and just live their lives now.

I didn't see anything about a rope, I had assumed he did it with his clothes

Too bad he didn't do it *before* kidnapping, raping and torturing his victims.

So the thought of spending his life as a prisoner was enough to make him kill himself?

although it did cross my mind about the guards I first thought - he wasn't on a suicide watch?
