In reply to the discussion: Sarah Palin Tells Iowa Conservatives It's Time 'to Stiffen Our Backs'. [View all]DallasNE
(7,402 posts)At one point she is talking about the 2014 elections yet the "stiffen our spines" is directed at the impending rerun of a government shutdown followed 2 weeks later by a government default and those happen in January and February of 2014 so the article is wrong that she is talking about the 2014 elections except to say stand firm on no debt ceiling increase or you will be primaried. Indeed, do elections even matter since she is ignoring the 2012 and 2013 election results. Will the next step be a call to the military to execute a coup if she doesn't get her way? It is McCarthyism on steroids. Are there any Republicans with the backbone to stand up to these extremists? Certainly not John Boehner and that spells big trouble. The joint budget committee will not report out a compromise budget in mid-December as called for by law which means appropriation bills will not be passed by mid-January and throw us into government shutdown II followed in February with a government default on its debt. Yes, it is this bleak if Palin stiffens enough spines.
