In some states which allow open carry, a number of gun owners have carried long guns into restaurants.

I see no realistic reason to do so. It is already legal to open carry in those states. Plus an AR-15 is a poor choice for self defense in a crowded urban area.

The only reason I can see is to irritate and intimidate those who personally do not wish to see firearms in public. Why would any responsible gun owner wish to do this?
