In reply to the discussion: NYPD cop allegedly took $1,300 in cash from Brooklyn construction worker’s pocket during stop-and-fr [View all]markpkessinger
(8,908 posts)44. I was born and raised in rural PA, in a town of approximately 750, give or take . . .
. . . but have spent my entire adult life since college in NYC (I am no 53, so about 31 years). People often say how rude New Yorkers are. But in my experience, New Yorkers aren't rude so much as rushed and harried. But if you can get their (our) attention and make them (us) understand that you really are in need of some kind of help or assistance, then yes, they (we) actually are very kind and friendly!
I would add that it is in small, rural towns where I find people are most suspicious of 'outsiders,' or of people whose lives differ in some way from those they encounter in their tiny, restricted worlds!

I suspect the few that know it is wrong are too afraid to to anything about it.

Thugs like that used to prey on me in high school back on L.I, NY. Right from the gutter.
