I'm not being selective in applying blame for decades of systemic rot. Pretending that the buying of elected officials is a Republican phenomenon, or a recent one, has uses during the campaign season...and is nearly useless if we claim to be looking for a solution.
Undoing it is going to involve the repealing of countless laws and the overturning of countless court decisions. Or a Constitutional Amendment or three.
None of that can begin while each party blames the other.
