(95,264 posts)As private 'acts of war' go, this one is fairly clean: a soldier killed on sentry-go, and an attempt to kill members of a government. It remains unclear whether reports of activity elsewhere are solidly founded or phantoms arisen in confusion, and it may be that no more than one man acted today.
Were someone with some connection to Iraq or Afghanistan or even al'Queda itself to have made a clear run at any of the persons you named, I would have considered it a legitimate act of war, even if conducted by a private party.
But this frequent bleating that 'X is responsible for what Y just did' grows tiresome.
Harper seems a right shit-heel, on more grounds than I could quickly run through.
But Harper is not responsible for what happened today.
The person or persons who planned and carried it out are responsible for what they did, and no one else.
