You're not really to blame. The PA profession has been around for sixty years, and there are still people out there who don't know what we're all about. People hear 'assistant', and think we just fetch surgical instruments or something. There's a movement afoot to change the name to Physician Associate. We just want people to know that we are fully trained and licensed medical practitioners, just like doctors. We don't pretend to be doctors, and most of us don't want to be doctors. It confuses people.
