The evangelicals and tea partiers have had a huge effect on Republican politics. To deny that is to be blind. Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson started by taking over precinct delegate positions state by state beginning in the late 70's. That's how you change a party's direction. The tea party used the same technique, as have the Ayn Rand cultist Paul supporters.

The latter were shut out of this week's convention by rule changes, but if they had a larger plurality, they could have resisted. That's how the system works, and that's why this guy's entirely wrong about the Wichita PTA not being in attendance. These people are used to being secretive about their goals. For instance, when you want a theocracy you don't discuss it openly, especially with outsiders. What else did he expect?

All he saw was the delegates' clothes. Sounds to me like an article from a hack who didn't do diligence to get to the core of what was really happening resulting in a lazy and useless article.
