Your answer would be incorrect in that the person asking the question did not ask a question that required the answer the answer you would have given. The question was not "In the long term, who won the Civil War?", "What side in the Civil War had the more long-lasting cultural and political impact?", "What side in the Civil War had the more profound and subtle victory?"; it was "Who won the Civil War?". For that question even you answered the Union. You wrote, "Although the Union won the Civil War itself". The question only asked who won the Civil War; it did not ask anything about the long-term impact of the Civil War, or its aftermath. Therefore, the proper and only needed answer, even if the video is a gotcha video, is the Union.
