9. Internal Controls

Unions are internal controls against corporations to ensure that corporate policies and government laws and regulations regarding worker protection and proper human resource policies are properly enforced. Unions also serve as negotating body who negotiates collectively on the part of labor when the worker is part of a standardized job class where the individual lacks the individual power to collectively negotiate a market-based wage with the employer.

I believe that unions sometimes get too powerful, but they serve as a powerful internal control against businesses who lack the ability to negotiate in good faith with the employers. Union-busting should be felony punishable term in the federal penitentiary.
