The Pulitzer Prize winning history of oil by Daniel Yergin, which made it clear that when it came to the Middle East, our government could care less what religion or human rights abuses are going on there. The only thing that matters is whether the natives give up their oil for the lowest possible price and give maximum control to the oil companies.

Knowing that after 9/11 made everything that happened seem like waking up in a really shitty Steven Seagal movie. What our government said bore no relation to their motive for what they are doing.

And that still is true today.

When ISIS was stayed in Syria, our government couldn't care less who they enslaved, raped, or beheaded.
