8. You KNOW things are bad when you have to put disclaimers like "Not from The Onion" upfront

The Republican Party has become so openly ridiculous (they have been ridiculous for decades already) that people have to prefix headlines with "Not From The Onion".

Lines like this use to be seen as satirical from a spoof publication.
But now we can't tell satire from real events.

The Daily Show writers had an EASY job during the Bush Administration because that administration would do so many ridiculous things in real life that all the writers really had to do was run the tape & make funny reactions in response.
You didn't have to reach for laughs. They were already there.

I want this party to DIE.
I have wanted it to die since I was a little boy.
There are consequences for taking in a bunch of bigots to get votes.
The Republican Party sealed its fate after 1964 & it deserves to die.

People like this should NEVER be in charge of affecting policy.
The best folks like this should do is be the crazy neighbor down the street talking this madness in their own household.
You are allowed to be stupid in your house.
You are NOT allowed to be stupid when you are in a position to significantly affect everyone's lives.
