I posit that it is the Donor/media propaganda in large part. The other reason is they gave poor and middle class whites a target that they say is responsible. Minorities of all stripes were to blame: immigrants, blacks, LGBTV, and Democrats. Fake News kept the followers from accepting the facts and believing their propaganda.
