the problem these days is it's just knee jerk,

Authority, "The Earth is round."

Snidely R. Contempt, "What do you know, Authority? You can't be right, Authority never is."

Actual conversation:

Mother to Millennial Daughter, "Did you have a separate section on genetics in biology class?"

MD, "I don't know, I don't remember."

Aunt, "How can you not remember, it was so interesting."

MD, "Maybe we did, but I wouldn't have believed any of it anyway."
