12. Been in the 🩷 high desert of AZ twice...

Fell in love with the high desert as a 12 yr old through photos. In July '79 at 26 yrs old going by bus I met up w a friend (who drives) in Flagstaff. He was heading to TX, and I to San Fransisco.We drove to the Navajo, and Hopi Nations, and slept in sleeping bags overnight in Monument Valley.

As we drove up into, down out of the San Fransisco Peaks north of Flagstaff I could see the desert colors ahead.

Before we turned eastward toward the 3 Mesas of Hopiland we stopped at food and supply store. The cashier said "how humid" it was. I asked what it was, and he said, "35%".

Being an NYC'r, and raised to be polite I did not burst out laughing. In NYC in the Summer time 35% is near the lowest it can be! We who are not fans of humidity in the late Spring, Summer in particular revel in our "dry" Summer days! 🩷😄
