Yesterday

and I've never had one that was actually affectionate – they accepted petting, but didn't even want to sit on my lap, let alone cuddle; and DEFINITELY didn't want to be picked up.

I've wondered if I should have been pushier, and forced more affection onto them; maybe they'd have gotten used to it? But honestly, I felt like maybe they'd been traumatized in the past, and I didn't want to freak them out. I did of course take good care of them physically until they died, and also played with them regularly – they did like that. But t.b.h., the whole experience was rather sad.
