neighbor retaliates with bright paint job

5. Back in the '70's we had a neighbor.......

right next door who kept three dogs in cages in the yard. The cages were set on blocks & the dogs just crapped onto the lawn. The stench was horrific. The backyard where these dogs were, was about 12 feet from our kitchen. My Dad talked to the guy & he wouldn't clean up.

After giving the neighbor 2 days to clean it up, the neighbor did nothing. My Dad called the Police, the Officer couldn't believe the stench & told the neighbor to clean it up, and the cop was staying to watch him clean it. The cop stayed for about 45 minutes till it was cleaned up. The neighbor was also told that if the Police had to return for this situation they would arrest him and cite him.

After that the stench would get bad & my Dad would tell the neighbor that he would call the Police. My Dad would then watch as the neighbor cleaned it up

A couple of sad things about this man, 1. he was at the time married to the twin sister of my older brother's best friend. Their father had died when they were about 10, and when my Dad died, this friend stated that he had been like a father to him.
2. Eventually they divorced & about 8 years ago the neighbor got into a situation with the police, where he fired upon them from the rural home he had moved to. He walked out of the house holding up his shotgun shot at the police who returned fire & killed him.
