How can you reconcile being a Slytherin in Harry Potter and being politically liberal/progressive?

It's all in how you use those traits. I use my resourcefulness as a single mom and to help others. I use my ambition in my work life and working on my doctorate. Some of those traits have a negative perception but they are not all negative. As a woman, I have been told my ambition is a negative but that's just ignorance and their own feelings being threatened. Self-preservation is needed especially now with the insanity we are dealing with. Think about how you would apply those traits to yourself. It's not black and white. You can be Slytherin and be progressive or liberal.
