1. I think Colbert is the best interviewer on late night

He got Paul McCartney to stop telling the same old stories, and talk about his mother’s death when he was 14, something no interviewer has done before or since.

How’d he do it? By first mentioning his own father’s death in a plane crash when he was 12.

He has recited Shakespearean love sonnets with Helen Mirren trading verses and reciting from memory.

He asks questions designed to elicit deeper answers than just promoting the guest’s latest project.

I will miss that, but hopefully, like Letterman, an interview show is in his future.
