This teacher is absolutely exhausted with Remote Learning for the past year. Our last normal day in a classroom full of students was March 13th, 2020. Now these brainiacs want us to spend most of the summer teaching summer school? They are out of their minds. MSTeams and Zoom work but are not great. Having to learn and implement a new Learning Platform, Canvas, three weeks before classes resumed last August was mind melting. No time to learn or absorb Canvas and become proficient with it, just jump right in....weekly lesson plans required, kids that will not participate inZoom or MSTeams, cohorts, 1700-1800 kids in my high school in normal times, now I have 3-4 kids a day showing up in cohorts, not 3-4 kids per class and I teach 3 classes, but a total of 3-4 kids all day in my classroom, the rest we are teaching remotely while the 3-4 are still sitting at the back of the room, some working hard, some doing as little a possible or on their phones....STUPID PLAN! I'm thrilled to have the kids back as are most of my colleagues.....But to be asked or tasked to teach Summer School is not going to happen. And for the last week and a half our older teachers are finally getting their vaccines. I got my 1st moderna vaccine last Friday. So at least that is happening now.....No Summer School for me!!!!!
