I may put this extremely important question elsewhere but I need the input of some real Texans.

Read the first in Nevada Barr series of Anna Pigeon park ranger books which takes place in Texas. The audio reader continually says Guadaloop for the park and all my life I have heard Guadaloopay for Guadalupe Mountains. Just as in Houston one says San Felipay for San Felipe and in Austin it is Manshack for Manchaca. Now I know since living in these places that these pronunciations are wrong but local. When I first came to Austin I did not even know what the heck my husband was taking about when he told me to turn on Manshack and I missed a turn taking kids to the zoo in Houston looking for San Felipay having just moved there from San Antonio. However like the Netflix series where the woman who says she is from Texas says peecan for pecan (one Texans remarked that a peecan is where one urinates when you cannot find a bathroom) and the audio reader who says javelina instead of havelina. These things drive me crazy. If I were ever asked to do an audio reading from a book placed in another area of the country, I would find me a local. BTW, that is an excellent series. Each book is placed in a different National Park.
