The London Underground functions close to the margins in many ways at the best of times. Any reduction in staff could make it nightmarishly impossible for anyone who is not reasonably well-off, totally able-bodied, and very geographically savvy/ familiar with London.

I am sick of the modern assumption in too many areas that 'efficiency' means reducing staff as much as possible. Apart from causing unemployment and casualization in the workforce, it leads to the complete opposite of efficiency for service users!
