Hillary has a right to be proud.

I actually met Chelsea briefly in the summer of 2002. She was working as an intern at WHO in Geneva, Switzerland and graciously stood in the receiving line at the US Mission in Geneva while it hosted a Fourth of July barbecue. She would have been all of 22 at the time and was still a poised young woman who knew how to "make the right noises."

The organization where I worked was not far from WHO. That summer, many of my much younger colleagues would make it a point to lunch at the WHO cafeteria in the hopes of spotting Chelsea there. Former President Clinton was much admired in the international community and seeing his daughter was a sort of vicarious validation.

Even after the horrors of 9-11, we were ALL much more innocent and trusting in the summer of 2002 than we ever would be again.
