It sure as hell is. The belief otherwise is a disease - like "self-help" and "positive thinking" and all that other crapola. It was the thing that pissed me off second-most in Obama's big speech a few weeks ago (first was his pro-forma blaming the victims with his personal responsibility schtick). I mean when he want on and on about individual actions - the teacher, the parent, etc. - being "marching." No, Obama, buying supplies for your classroom is not "marching." Marching is a CONCERTED - not individual - action. Getting teachers and parents and students to walk out together to protest inadequate supplies and funding would be "marching."

sorry, that's rather an aside.

I think I had to distract myself for a minute because Decline of the Empire is right. I have young grandchildren. 11 and 2. I tell you, I don't know how to bear what I see.
