The Kremlin Is Preparing for a Much WORSE War - Jason Jay Smart [View all]
Putins army is facing a dangerous new problem in eastern Ukraine: Ukraine is burning the roads that keep Russias occupation supplied. Those routes carry fuel, ammunition, food, spare parts, and replacement troops into the occupied south. Up to 150,000 Russian soldiers now face the risk of sitting inside a shrinking supply trap as the roads Russia depends on come under fire.
Across roughly 480 km (298 miles) of front-line supply routes, Ukraine is putting pressure on roads feeding major Russian groupings such as Dnipro and Vostok. Burned trucks and tankers are not isolated fires. They show Ukraine hitting the arteries Russia needs to hold eastern Ukraine, protect the land bridge, and keep Crimea connected to the war.
Moscows danger is simple: the map can still look stable while the army behind it starts running short of fuel, ammunition, food, and replacement troops. Putin needs his occupation to look permanent. Ukraine is forcing a different reality: burned roads, delayed rotations, trapped troops, and a Russian army that gets harder to supply every day.
