(260 posts)Although younger than you and from a different starting place, I think that we've both arrived at a similar conclusion. Although I've been an Independent voter for the last 40 years I haven't voted for a Republican candidate in any election State or Federal in all that time. Except for one election here in Oregon (1986 Dem Governor Neil Goldschmidt) that's always been a good choice. As currently constituted the Republican party (since at least 1980) cannot nominate a Presidential candidate I could ever vote for.
So I know that whichever of the two remaining Democratic contenders wins the nomination (and yes I have a preference) they'll have my vote. I'm reasonably certain that we will remain a blue state come November with only one Republican representing the state in Washington (Greg Walden). I won't see you at the polling booth though, we're all mail voting here in Oregon.
